"I Am Not A Blogger" (My farewell to PropertyOfZack)

I, like many others, penned a short farewell for PropertyOfZack.

A bright future lies ahead of Zack. His label (which gave me a bunch of Mansions records and Phantoms on wax), the fortunate roster of bands he manages and all of the future endeavors he chooses to pursue will undoubtedly be met with success due to the willpower and determination he exercises, along with his sizable skill set and ingrained passions. The blog is done, Zack Zarrillo is not.

The blog will cease to update after this weekend. It's a sad thing, but not a bad thing. POZ has done a lot for the scene. It's nice to read and contribute so many words during it's victory lap.

Bands Need Mentors

Bands Need Mentors

A month ago, Alternative Press asked me to be a columnist for their website. This is my first piece for that column. 1

I think it’s so incredibly important for our youth to have positive role models. That importance is amplified for the young men and women touring the nation in bands. These youth experience a lot very quickly on the road. This often leads to trouble.

Bands need people to look up to. We need to look after our bands.

  1. They also asked my friends Thomas Nassiff and James Cassar to write about things they’re passionate about. Thomas is doing a series on starting Bad Timing Records and James is putting a spotlight on the disabled in the music scene. Read their respective pieces here and here
